She was abandoned by her owners at the place where she was being boarded. Boarding owners took care of her for over a year but could no longer care for her. She was rescued by Hearts and Horses and brought to Hagemann Ranch in April of 2023. She now works at the ranch as a lesson horse.

Skip is a retired race horse who was rescued by Hearts and Horses (formally known as Double Hearts) in 2020. He is susceptible to abscess in his feet. He has been through a lot of medical treatments to help keep his feet clear and healthy.

Garava is a retired race horse who was rescued by Hearts and Horses in 2021. He enjoys interacting with all of the visitors who come to the ranch.

Rascal was left out in a field in Tracy for many years with no attention or medical treatment. He had not had his feet trimmed in years and his hooves were long and grown out. He foundered, had abscesses and broken teeth. He is susceptible to laminitis. He was rescued by Hearts and Horses and brought to Hagemann Ranch in 2021. After a lot of attention and treatment, Rascal is a healthy pony. He now works as a lesson horse with our youngest and smallest riders and he is also a therapy pony for our Special Needs Program.

Buddy Bear originally belonged to a rancher before being entrusted to Donna’s horse trainer, where he was used for children’s riding lessons. As lessons slowed down, he was retired to pasture and no longer actively ridden.

In April 2024, he found a new home at Hearts and Horses. Upon arrival, he was underweight from his time in the pasture, and we have been diligently working on restoring his health. Our goal is to prepare him for our lesson program, 4-H activities, and Special Needs program, where he can once again make a meaningful impact.

Bullet was Donna’s All Around Competition and Barrel race horse. He moved to Hagemann Ranch in 2022 and now works as a lesson horse as well as a therapy horse for our Special Needs Program. 

Cache was Donna’s All Around Competition Horse. She has lived at Hagemann Ranch since 2015
